Hi, I am Alice
I am a project manager and a parent, currently an expatriate living in London, United Kingdom.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to United Kingdom wasn't in the plans for the long haul. Like many international moves for work, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial few months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, routines, and expectations. Daily chores seemed more tangled than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt secure.
Why I Built BeaconElmQuill
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow travel content. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap with practical advice drawn from real life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Covers (And What It Doesn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights gained from living in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a genuine change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism board resource
- A paid promotional review platform
- An ordinary travel diary
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United Kingdom goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep recording what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Alice
